About
Susan Mandl is an artist who embraced a new media in December 2023 after seeing and falling in love with Nancy Medsker's paintings and the vibrant pigments of pastels. In addition to being self-taught, she has learned from the amazingly gifted Australian painter, Stephanie Clark and from the inspirational and renowned Ithaca painter Joyce Stillman.
She studied dance, singing, theater, horticulture, photography, gardening, and medicine - all the while never abandoning her eye for nature. She recently retired from a three decade career as a labor and delivery nurse. She shares the beauty of pastel painting in order to capture the space of emotions and energy in plant life, skyscapes and landscapes. Her landscapes incorporate small animals, stonework, and building structures. Still life's include features such as flowers, pottery, glass and bronze.
