Our Story
In 2015, my husband, Tom Seaney, sought a new home for Finger Lakes Fabricating, a metal fabricating business he had run for over 40 years on Court St. in Ithaca. The old Danby Market building was for sale nearby, and despite its state as an eyesore needing extensive work, we saw its potential.
Originally an IGA grocery store that opened in the 1960s, it closed in 2005 and sat vacant until we decided to revive it. Renovating the building took three years, but we embraced the challenge. We designed four flex spaces, each with its own entrance and bathroom. Originally an event space, the Danby Gathery shifted to a hub for small businesses after closing due to COVID-19.
Now, Finger Lakes Fabricating is in the back, Golden Rod Depot is at the front, and Danby Gathery Art Works enhances the south side. We are proud to have transformed this building into a vibrant space that supports local businesses and inspires the community.
